Re-installed Windows & Screen resolution options different, How do I change it?

I just freshly installed Windows Vista (Home Premium) on my laptop because it wouldn't boot.

It installed fine, but the screen resolution options are different now and I can't change it!

The largest it had BEFORE the re-install was 1280x800. (It is a wide-screen)

Now the only options are 800x600 and 1024x768.

Is it because of the specific CD I used? Is there a way to fix this? Do I have to find a different CD?

Again, 800x600 and 1024x768 are the ONLY options it gives me when I go to the resolution settings.

I know how to change the resolution. I am asking if there is a way to get back my 1280x800 resolution.

You need drivers. The reason you can only get 800x600 and 1024x768 are because those are the options supported by Windows standard VGA drivers, which are only meant to get you going until you can install the proper drivers. In order to get the other resolutions, play games, and so on, you need to get the drivers for your video card. It's probably either ATI or Nvidia- there may be a sticker on the computer telling you which. Go to their website and download the Vista drivers.Re-installed Windows %26amp; Screen resolution options different, How do I change it?
If you can't connect to the Internet, it's probably because you're missing the network card drivers too. Go to your computer manufacturer's website on another computer (this is like Dell, HP, or Toshiba) and download the drivers for your model. Then, copy them over to this computer and install them.
