Whats the cause of this problem?

And How do I fix it?Computer Won't Boot, Nothing on Screen, see details
It sounds like it's your motherboard. Try to get into your bios when you boot up. If it won't get that far it's probably the mobo. You usually don't need the hard drive, optical drives, floppy, or ram to get to the bios.

With how old your computer is it will probably be cheapest just to buy a new machine. If the new machine has IDE connections you can probably get info off your old HD; if not you can get one of those external IDE HD to USB adapters (cage?) and connect it.Computer Won't Boot, Nothing on Screen, see details
Hard drive has failed. Replace hard drive.
Looks like to me the problem is on the hard drive...try to replace another hard drive.
Sounds like a bad motherboard, processor, or power supply. Most likely motherboard since there are no beeps on start up. Try switching out the power supply first. You could buy the cheapest pc out there and it would be better than what you currently have.

If it is the motherboard, just buy a new computer.
Maybe, your computer chip has burned out, but you should make sure that is the problem. My reason is because computer chips are expensive.
